Objectives of the board.
Many Martial Arts schools are opening up all over Australia as scores of people see the incredible benefits that martial arts has to offer.
As numerous schools open up, the variety and what is on offer also becomes large and sometimes confusing to the potential student.
For a potential new student or their parent it becomes hard to wade through the experienced or inexperienced instructors, including the ones just in it for a quick dollar.
As there is no Government regulatory body, the potential student looking for a school can easily be taken in by the unscrupulous and/or inexperienced instructor/school owner who maybe very good with their flashy advertising.
Another big problem for legitimate Martial Arts school owners is that many schools open, teach a poor curriculum and close leaving many students in limbo (indeterminate state.)
Some students have gone through and paid for gradings that will not be recognised by other schools. Poor curriculum can also lead students to believe that the Martial Arts is very shallow and in turn they brand all Martial Arts schools the same.
This is where we come in. Any school under the ABOK banner has to undergo a thorough examination with the school owner having to produce a working with children card plus a police test.
School owners applying for ABOK membership must be able to prove their quality of training and commitment to the Martial Arts and also a proven record in integrity.
